&Beyond Suyian Lodge
Mount Kenya cuts a clean line across the horizon. The Ewaso Narok River winds below. Among ancient kopjes and wide, open country, a safari of greater depth begins.

Life in Camp
Set within a 44,000-acre wilderness, Suyian Lodge looks out across the Rock Sanctuary, a striking landscape of rolling granite kopjes rich in history, including ancient rock art. With just 14 rooms, this peaceful retreat offers a high degree of privacy amid sweeping plains and sculptural boulders. Guests are treated to far-reaching views that take in the Ewaso Narok River and Mount Kenya. Found within Suyian’s distinctive rocky terrain, the lodge showcases sculptural architecture that echoes its surroundings. The design draws inspiration from the granite kopjes and the hardy plant life that thrives among them. Curved forms, softened with vegetation, follow the rhythm of the ridge lines, creating a natural harmony with the landscape. Suyian Conservancy is home to some of Kenya's toughest to find species - including wild dog and the illusive black leopard - so guests here enjoy a safari far beyond the classic Big 5 experience.

Timing Your Trip
Kenya is a year round destination, particularly with its relatively easy access from Europe. Sunshine here is consistent with the country's position on the equator but the rains in April and May will make game viewing a little trickier.
The private conservancy means you rarely share a sighting, so do not be put off by potentially busier windows in July/ August or December, you'll be far away from the crowds here.

Famous For
- Stunning lodge design - The &Beyond style is evident here as the natural landscape is emulated in the lodge's architecture.
- 44,000 acres of private wilderness - A former cattle ranch the conservancy is now one of Kenya's most densely populated areas. With a limited footprint on the land you'll have almost all your sightings yourself - a rarity these days.
- Some of Kenya's Rarest Wildlife - From sighings of Giza - the melanistic leopard - to African wild dog, a real favourite of Will's, this is game viewing at its best.

Will's Ideal Pairing
"Anyone visiting the Laikipia region ought to consider a trip to Reteti Elephant Orphanage, accessible by fixed wing or helicopter excursion. It's hard to construct a Kenyan itinerary without a trip to the Maasai Mara, particularly if it's one of your first safaris. The more season veteran might want to consider something equally remote like the Chyulu Hills or Sarara Camp in the Namunyak Conservancy."
