Kenya

A country that offers something for all, whether your first safari or fifteenth. Be it following the great migration, searching for super tuskers or helicopter adventures over flamingo covered lakes, Kenya is home to some of the best wildlife experiences on the planet.

Experience

Will’s safari routes are deep in Kenya. It was here he landed his first ‘bush’ job as an 18 year old intern for Governors’ Camp Collection, working in the oldest tented safari camp in the country with jobs ranging from cleaning shower heads to counting the spare parts for 47 Land Rovers.

Between all that he was able to grab his first camera and get out on safari and in so doing Kenya grabbed him by the hearts strings and has never let go. Adamant that you can go on safari in Kenya every year and experience something different each time, Will has put together countless itineraries in this stunning country.

Whether it’s organising someone’s first safari to the Maasai Mara, where big cats are behind every corner, sending the more adventurous up to Lake Turkana by helicopter, photographer’s to Amboseli or a family safari to Will’s favourite conservancy in Africa, Borana, Kenya offers something for all. Knowing where and when to go is perhaps more important in Kenya than anywhere else as tourist numbers are rising fast in this part of the world. From his time living there Will is perfectly placed to advise you on this though and ensure you have a phenomenal safari.

Best Time to Visit

Being an equatorial country temperatures in Kenya remain fairly consistent year round and you can expect sunshine on most days of the year. That said it is the rain that will have the greatest effect on your safari and should be a major consideration when planning a trip to Kenya, as are experiences like The Great Migration which, while phenomenal, will have a serious effect on tourist numbers.

January and February bring warm, dry weather between the two rainy seasons. A great time to take advantage of quieter camps as the Christmas rush dies down and kids go back to school. March heralds the start of the long rains (through to May) as parts of Kenya receive most of their annual rainfall and the safari world moves in to Green Season. Expect safari roads to be tougher going and sightings a little harder to come by as readily available water makes wildlife disperse. For the adventurous this is a great time to grab a deal and avoid the crowds, but pack a rain coat!
