Laragai House

Perched on a ridge with views that stretch from Mount Kenya to the northern deserts, Laragai House is a private escape with the freedom to do safari your own way. Spacious, stylish and exclusive, it is a home in the bush like no other.

Life in Camp

Laragai House is a proper home away from home. Set high on a ridge in Borana Conservancy, it is made for groups and families who want space, privacy and a safari experience that bends to their rhythm. It sleeps up to sixteen guests but still feels like a home, fires lit, drinks poured, everything taken care of with quiet ease. The house is fully staffed and entirely exclusive, with guides, chefs and hosts who know how to read the room. Want a slow morning by the pool? No problem. Want to be out with the first light tracking rhinos on foot? They will have the coffee ready. Will has returned to Borana more times than he can count - it is one of his favourite places to go on safari -and Laragai offers something different here, something more personal. A proper escape, in every sense of the word.

Timing Your Trip

For warm days and clear skies, January, February and October are ideal. Wildlife sightings are excellent, the landscapes are open and the conservancy is at its most active. March, April and November bring scattered rains and a flush of green, beautiful light, quiet roads and rich colours across the plains.

Laragai works year round because it offers more than just game drives. The house is a destination in itself, and whether you come for the wildlife or the stillness, it is a place that delivers in every season.

Famous For

Laragai House is known for its sense of freedom. Private vehicle, private guide, no schedules and no strangers. Whether it is lunch by the pool, sundowners on the escarpment or a horseback safari that turns into a bush dinner, the days here are shaped entirely around you. The house itself is beautifully designed but with a real personal touch, with roaring fires, deep baths and endless views. What really sets it apart though is the feeling that you do not need to be anywhere else. This is safari life, on your own terms.

Will's Ideal Pairing

"I think one of my all time favourite safaris started at Laragai. From the moment we arrived and elephants came down to the waterhole I knew we were in business. Three days later we were taken by helicopter up to Lake Turkana to explore northern Kenya on quad bikes before heading down to a private camp in the Maasai Mara. With the private nature of Laragai House my recommendations to go with it will depend on your group size."
