Timing Your Trip
There’s no bad time to visit Volcanoes National Park but some seasons make things easier. The dry months, June to September and again from December to February offer clearer trails and more stable weather. For trekking, it’s the most straightforward time to go.
That said, the wetter seasons bring their own kind of magic. From March to May, and again in November, the landscape becomes even more vivid. The forest glows green, the air clears after rainfall, and the mist that settles over the volcanoes gives the place an almost mythical feel.
Gorillas don’t migrate - they’re here all year - so the decision comes down to what kind of atmosphere you’re after. Will tends to visit just outside of peak season, when there’s a little more space to breathe and the light hangs low in the mornings. Whatever your choice, Kwitonda ensures the experience is nothing short of extraordinary.
