Felix has spent many hours in the field observing compositions within a variety of landscapes. The background to his images are often the most important part, as without a strong background, the subject doesn't shine. His knowledge of camera settings his top tier, yet his understanding of how the landscape composes the image, is the real skill he has required. Felix equally enjoys black-and-white photography. He likes to use shadows to create contrast within the image, as well as dark storm clouds to give a biblical feel. Felix says, “I typically take more colour photos, but I'm striving for black-and-white. I may not take as many, but I pick my moments, and they can often end up my favourite images from the trip.” 

Felix has taught photography to hundreds of clients in his time, and loves seeing their reaction to capturing an image they are proud of. For him, the best part is helping people enjoy their experience around wildlife, and assisting them to capture images they never thought they could. Felix is a big advocate for knowing when to put the camera down, as not every encounter is a photo worthy scene. “Sometimes you have to enjoy the moment with your eyes and learn a little bit about your subject, before you pick the camera up again.”
