Elephant Garden Camp
The home from which Will has created all of his elephant images. Together with Eric Ole Kalama, the camp owner, he has spent thousands of hours in Amboseli honing their approach to photo safaris here.

Life in Camp
Just a short drive from Amboseli National Park’s Kimana Gate, Elephant Garden Camp is a boutique luxury retreat that opened its doors in July 2022. The camp features six tents - five standard and one family tent - each designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings while offering modern comforts. Guests enjoy exclusive use of a private vehicle for game drives, allowing for tailored safari experiences led by knowledgeable guides, many from the local Maasai community. Beyond traditional game drives, the camp’s access to a private conservancy enables activities such as walking safaris, sundowners, and bush breakfasts, providing diverse ways to connect with the environment. With its commitment to personalized service and authentic encounters, Elephant Garden Camp stands as a distinctive destination for those seeking a deeper connection with Kenya’s wildlife and cultural heritage.

Timing Your Trip
You can visit Amboseli three times in the same year and get wildly different images and experiences. In the early parts of the year the rains ensure a healthy covering of snow on Kilimanjaro, so for those keen for clear skies and epic views of the mountain consider January through May. The later in this time frame you go the wetter the area though so access to all areas of the park can be difficult.
For those aiming to get out on the Amboseli lake bed then head there in the latter parts of summer. September and October are the best times for this, the nearer to November you go the more the clouds build, storms brew and you get those epic storms.

Famous For
Elephant Garden Camp is renowned for its proximity to Amboseli National Park and its location within a private conservancy frequented by some of the region’s majestic elephant bulls. The camp guarantees each group a private vehicle, ensuring personalized and flexible safari experiences.
The guiding of the camp’s owner, Eric Ole Kalama is perhaps the best in all of Amboseli, without him Will would have very few elephant images to show for.
