Elewana Tortilis Camp
Tucked away in the Kitirua Private Conservancy, bordering the national park, this stunning camp looks out over one of the most secluded areas of Amboseli with unrivalled access to the famous lake bed.

Life in Camp
Named after the flat topped acacia trees that surround Amboseli National Park, Tortilis is one of Elewana's flagship properties and perhaps the best in the area. Nestled in a small, private conservancy guests can walk in the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro and take game drives out on the renowned Amboseli lake bed, a photographers paradise. Always conscious of their impact on the land around them, Tortilis was one of the first eco-lodges of its size and runs on 100% solar energy. With just 12 tents, a pool and a private house for families, this is one of the finest properties in southern Kenya.

Timing Your Trip
Those looking to access the lake bed need to visit in the drier months - July through October - when the area receives just 8mm of rain across the summer months.
Anyone looking for the snow covered peaks of Kilimanjaro should seek out the back end of the rainy season (May/ June) or December to allow for the rains to bring fresh snow to the mountain.
