Alaska, August 2027

Trip Summary
This is one of the most immersive photography experiences Will offers. Having first visited Alaska in 2025 and becoming immediately hooked and this is the first time he has offered a group trip here.
One of the most important aspects of photographing brown bears is timing. August is prime salmon fishing time when the bears are at their most active, often spending full days in the river surrounded by 360 degree views of the snow capped mountains. Majestic bald eagles fly over head and the most special part? It will all be on foot.
This low angle photography experience, often with the habituated bears just mere feet away, is adrenaline fuelled and allows for epic images as bears charge through the water, cubs learn the vital skills involved in fishing or rival males face off over females.
By using the landing vessel M/V Dianne the group can spend all day, every day inside the national park and never miss a golden hour. It also gives total flexibility on which bay to visit, meaning the group will always be where the action is at its best.

Overview
The dates for this 2027 safari are still being finalised, but the itinerary opposite reflects the day to day of how the trip will run. Use the enquiry form at the bottom to reserve a space or join the waitlist for information - spaces are already filling up fast.
Day 1
Arrive in Anchorage, the biggest city in Alaska and overnight at Captain Cook Hotel. The group will meet for dinner and a quick briefing on the trip ahead, giving everyone the chance to get to know one another.
Day 2
Private float plane down to Katmai National Park, an awesome way to see Alaska from the air - keep cameras in hand throughout the flight - and arriving in time for a half days shooting out in our chosen bay. We will also meet up with our team who will host us throughout the week on our accommodation, M/V Dianne, a purpose built boat so we can stay in the national park throughout our trip.
Day 3 - 7
Every day will be based around the movement of salmon and bears. The advantage of using a landing craft means we have total flexibility to choose where we go and to stay out all day, as opposed to groups flying in for the day or staying at a fixed lodge, making sure we are always there in the best shooting conditions at the start and end of each day. We will head to the bay we hear has the best activity each day and make the most of our flexibility and there will also be bald eagles, coastal wolves and stunning landscapes to photograph. While those looking for a longer trip can consult Will for add ons to their itinerary, which he can happily advise on and book for you.
Days 3 - 7
As your host and guide Will shall always be on hand to offer photography tips and advice, ensuring you are in the best possible positions to get the shots you came for. Between our time out with the bears there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy one-to-one and group editing sessions with Will. These are often the times guests learn the most about their images.
Day 8
Sadly all good things must come to an end and we will begin our journey back to Anchorage via float plane to ensure everyone makes it back in time for evening flights back home.
