"Probably the best photo I've ever taken...while wearing a pair of Crocs in the Arctic."
Spring 2024 marked our third consecutive trip to Svalbard, and by far the most varied in terms of polar bear sightings. This particular bear appeared at around five in the morning, wandering across the ice as it slowly circled our boat. It never came close, but gave me the photographic chance I had been waiting for—a perspective from high above, taken from the bow, with broken ice stretching to the horizon and snow gently falling. A gift of a scene, unless you happen to be the one wearing crocs in minus fifteen.
