Kaingo
Operated by Shenton Safaris, Kaingo is a privately owned safari camp located deep within South Luangwa National Park along the Luangwa River. The camp offers six chalets with private decks overlooking the river, providing guests with intimate wildlife encounters and exceptional photographic opportunities.

Life in Camp
Kaingo Camp is designed to offer an immersive bush experience without compromising on comfort. Each of the six chalets features en-suite bathrooms and private decks with views of the Luangwa River, allowing guests to observe hippos and other wildlife from their accommodations. The camp is renowned for its unique photographic hides, strategically positioned to capture stunning images of animals in their natural habitats. Activities include guided walking safaris and game drives, led by experienced guides familiar with the park’s diverse ecosystems. The camp’s commitment to low-impact tourism ensures a secluded and authentic safari experience, with minimal vehicle traffic and exclusive sightings.

Timing Your Trip
The best time to visit Kaingo Camp is during the dry season, from June to October, when wildlife is most concentrated along the riverbanks, creating the best photographic or game viewing opportunities. The camp’s focus on walking safaris also means you're visiting as the bush is less dense and spotting at its easiest.

Will's Ideal Pairing
"Even by heading a little ways along the river to Shenton's other camp, Mwamba you'll have a totally different South Luangwa experience. For the perfect pairing head over to Old Mondoro in the Lower Zambezi and you'll have ticked off two of Zambia's most iconic destinations, and two of the most under rated in Africa."
