Serra Cafema
Serra Cafema is one of those places you have to see to believe. Hidden along the Kunene River in Namibia’s far northwest, it offers a kind of quiet that’s hard to come by with all the classic Wilderness touches of class.

Life in Camp
Wilderness Serra Cafema sits in the Marienfluss Conservancy, one of the most remote corners of Namibia. Getting here takes time, but that’s part of the point. You arrive and everything slows, the wind in the palms, the river running past, the silence of the dunes. The camp is built beneath ancient ana trees and elevated off the sand to keep its footprint light. There are eight thatch-roofed villas, each with a private deck facing the river and an interior that balances luxury with raw beauty - think timber, exposed stone, soft linen. Home comforts in the wild. Days here are shaped by the land. You can drift along the Kunene by boat, explore the dunes on foot or quad bike, or spend time with the local Himba community who’ve lived in harmony with this landscape for generations. Wildlife is subtle but present, oryx, zebra, crocodile, and birds weaving through the reeds. This isn’t a safari for ticking boxes. It’s for those who want to feel far away from everyday life. Arrive, turn your phone off and take it all in.

Timing Your Trip
You can visit Serra Cafema all year, but how the place feels changes with the season.
From May to October, the weather is cooler, the skies clear, and the desert crisp and still. These are ideal months for long walks, river excursions, and quad biking across the dunes.
From November through to April, the warmer, wetter season arrives. It brings sudden green to the valley and breathes a different kind of life into the land. Wildlife may be more dispersed but that’s not necessarily why you’re here.
