Serengeti
Nowhere makes you feel small like the Serengeti. Endless plains, huge numbers of wildebeest wondering the plains and big cats around every corner.

Overview
Derived from the Maa word 'Serenget', meaning endless plains, it's easy to see how the place earned the name. Eight times the size of the Maasai Mara on its northern border at 12,000 sq.km and predominantly famous for the wildebeest migration and abundant big cat populations, every corner of this staggering national park is a little different. Will has spent the last three years working between Namiri Plains in the eastern Serengeti, from where you'll recognise many of his lion images, or heading further south to catch the calving season of the famed wildebeest migration, where 300,000 calves are born in just a matter of weeks. As with many east African national parks knowing the when and the where is crucial here and Will's experience working across this vast landscape will steer you in the right direction.

Best Time to Visit
There’s no wrong time to visit the Serengeti, only different moods to match the season.
From January to March, the south is where you want to be, calving season means new life and predator action almost daily. By June, things have dried out and the migration is on the move north. The western corridor and Grumeti crossings are pumping. Come July to October, the drama shifts north to the Mara River—think dust, hooves, and crocodiles in waiting.
November brings a fresh energy with the short rains, and the herds start drifting south again, moving back to where it all began. Will tends to plan his trips around the movement of the migration and the light/ weather. If you’re after big skies and picture worthy backdrops then March - May or November are your best bets.

Ideal Pairing
"While you could visit many different areas of the Serengeti and have vastly different experiences, to get the most out of a Tanzanian safari consider getting off the beaten track and going down to the Selous or Ruaha, and for those after some time on the coast then a trip to Zanzibar's Pemba Island is a must."
